The Parish Finance Council is comprised of members who have demonstrated an expertise in financial matters. Its primary responsibility is to obtain funding for parish projects and conserve existing resources. The Parish Finance Council develops the tools to carry out priorities and programs of service and education that the Parish Pastoral Council has set forth. Membership is under the auspices of the pastor.
Meetings: quarterly; additional meetings in conjunction with the Pastoral Council as needed.
The Parish Pastoral Council serves as a practical vehicle whereby the gifts of all the parishioners can be utilized and those in authority can hear the authentic voice of the people. The Council sets priorities and develops programs of service and education within the parish that benefit the entire parish.
Membership: ex-officio non-voting members, six elected voting members, and voting commission representatives.
Meetings: first Thursday of the month, except in June, July, August, and January.
This commission meets to discuss, pray, and plan activities that invite and enable members of both parishes to an ongoing conversion to Jesus, to promote and support active membership in the Christian Catholic community, and to call and prepare adults to act as disciples in mission to the world. Some activities this group has sponsored include a Mission in one of the parishes, Advent and Lenten programs in the individual parishes, the process of the R.C.I.A, and Bible Study groups. Basically, this commission promotes the formation of the faith of adults. Membership: St. Mary and St. Boniface parishoners, by auspice of the pastor. Meetings: monthly
The Communication Commission is responsible for fostering communications within St. Mary Parish: between priest and people, and within parish societies and organizations. Moreover, the Commission shall develop communications between the parish and other church and community groups as well as the news media. Meetings: as needed.
The purpose of the Family Life Commission is to promote a community spirit within St. Mary Parish by organizing various activities including a weekly fish fry during Lent, Thanksgiving baskets, St. Nick stockings, Family Breakfast, Senior Breakfast, Coffee and donuts, Easter gifts for children, Confirmation gifts, flowers to members of the parish who may be alone or ill or widowed, and supplies for church cleaning and funeral luncheons. Interested parishioners, including non-members, are invited to help with the activities. Meets: several times per year.
The Maintenance Commission is in charge of making recommendations for the upkeep of parish property to the pastor and parish employees responsible for maintenance. The members of this commission are volunteers who have specific knowledge and skills related to maintenance and property upkeep. In addition to giving knowledgeable advice, the members often volunteer to complete smaller projects. Meetings: first Tuesday of every month.
The purpose of the Mission Commission is to keep before the parish’s consciousness the ongoing missionary activity of the church and to support those efforts in whatever way feasible. This group sponsors missionaries, and they have two or three activities a year to raise money for them. There is fellowship as they plan and run these activities. Membership: St. Mary and St. Boniface parishoners; new members welcome.
The purpose of the Worship Commission is to create and promote an atmosphere that will enhance the prayer life of the parish. Its role is to aid in developing the liturgical life of the parish in the areas of music, readers, extraordinary ministers, ushers, offertory processions, environmental art, and observances of special occasions and events during the Church year. Meetings: as needed.
