For those who are born and raised Catholic, faith formation and introduction to the sacraments are ideas gradually introduced across childhood. However, just because one was not born a "cradle" Catholic does not mean he can not be brought up to speed.
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a process through which new members are brought into the Catholic Community. Through prayer, reflection on scripture, study of Catholic Doctrine, and sharing with the parish community, those not of the Catholic Faith are helped to determine if the Holy Spirit is leading them to the Church. RCIA meets weekly on Monday evenings starting in the fall and culminates with initiation into the Church at the Mass of Easter Vigil. However, existing Catholics and those merely seeking information on the Catholic faith are welcome to attend the faith formation classes so as to strengthen their own knowledge of the faith.
