The purpose of this organization is to promote mutual understanding between teachers and parents and to bring a closer relationship between home and school. All parents of children attending Piqua Catholic School and any other interested parishioners may be members. Officers are elected yearly. Check with the school for dates and locations of the meetings.
PTO has several committees dedicated to bridging the gap between home and school, enhancing the opportunities offered to Piqua Catholic students, such as: Catholic School Week, Playground, Enrichment, and Artist in Residence. The PTO funds these opportunities through the SCRIP program. SCRIP certificates to local and national vendors are purchased in bulk and PTO receives a 5% discount for buying the certificates in bulk. The certificates then are sold to members of the community at face value.
The purpose of the Athletic Boosters is to provide an organized group through which members can support the Piqua Catholic School Athletic Program by raising money and providing the athletes with the best possible program for individual development. Membership is open to any parent with a child attending Piqua Catholic School and to any interested parishioner.
SCRIP is a national fund raising program designed to raise money for schools and non-profit organizations. Vendors participating in the SCRIP program provide a gift certificate or gift card (SCRIP card) and when the card is used to purchase their products, a percentage of the sales goes back to the organization selling the SCRIP. Each vendor returns a different percentage - anywhere from 3%-20%.
On the right is a list of regular vendors that the PTO keeps in stock on a regular basis. These are mostly local businesses that participate in the SCRIP Program. There is also a large list of National Vendors that provide SCRIP that you can use online. Ask for a copy of this list from a PTO Representative at Mass on Sundays, or contact the Parish Offices 773-1656.
Since most people will purchase items from these vendors during the course of a year, this is an easy, low maintenence way to raise money for your parish that costs nothing extra! Raise money for your school without extra cost to you or without pounding the pavement? How can you not do this?
